Security Check, Or Security Choke: Why lines are piling up in airports all across America. That's what's happenning in the USA Today. Frontpage, headliner, in factc. What's gotten into media. Shit, is what. It's all entertainment. You ever flipped through (flipped, only because nothing less than brisk is all I can stand) a copy of U.S. News magazine--US News and Report, in fact--it's all trash. I heard Time's the same, and once was filled with important news and issues; and at some point it began filling with trash entertainment articles; you see that issue with two, was it two?, cover articles on, what was it, Matrix 3?? They all got bought out by corporate conglomerates, bottom line was it, and entertainment, shit, is what people buy--so they dropped the world reporting part. What is it: now any real articles + important issues that deserve, that desperately need the cover of Americans' attentions are relegated to niche magazines? Simply, the academic? It's all theoretical, not what I care about, right?--The latest gossip and buzz is what I need to get updated with or I'll get left behind the buzz. Those issues aren't on magazine covers anyways why should I dig for them, then?
Same with books. It's all trash, 9 out of 10. The publishing Walmart-houses do what sells + profits--a consistent thesis + focus is only as important as it helps the reliability of brand--the words can be trash, rants from front to back but will it increase our net monetary performance, we can squeeze positive out of this junk because the advance will be low and the package the cover and one-liner will send enough, a bit more than enough off the shelves. It's all a business. What does it matter you're reading--that word has diluted meaning, altered, and the connotation is still riding in the wake--reading's different now, no different from watching reality TV. Trash TV. All profits, we are.
Politics? Does anyone speak from their brains anymore? (Maybe a bit in the UK, those half amusement, half-hearted tirades lobbed on the spot across the carpet of Commons.) Everything is scripted, speechwriters measuring the wind to construct the sail based on the largest catch-rate, debating opposing speechwriters doing the same. (Sometimes the politician actually dabs in his own sentiments, so as to have believable tone, operator and robot synchronized) Nothing means anything anymore. It's all entertainment that sells and no self, the human being gone.
Products vying with Products.
Marketing; it's not what your product is, but what potential buyers think it is, is all that matters.
Reality doesn't matter anymore; That is reality.
